Patience

“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation.” 2 Peter 3:15.

I’m blown away by the fact that Jesus waited thirty years for me to quit ignoring Him. Thirty years! Even though I know that it takes ten to fifteen seconds for small children to process what we’ve just told them, I don’t like to wait thirty seconds for my kids to obey me.

We often complain about all the evil in the world. Atheists demand that the God they don’t believe in do something to fix the sorry state of our planet. Well, He is doing something, one soul at a time. Every day, thousands of souls are becoming citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. In my last post I showed, or rather Jesus showed that the state of the world is exactly the way He expects it to be, right up until the Day of Judgement.

Christians and enemies of Jesus living and growing side by side.
Crimes and compassion;
Love and larceny;
Evil and superhuman efforts to heal the wounds that evil causes
Day in and day out - souls are lost and souls are saved.

We are living in the age of grace when the doors of heaven are wide open to anyone who wants to know love, and forgiveness and freedom from guilt.

The world WILL get fixed. Evil WILL be banished from the Kingdom forever. But not now. Not yet.

Now is the time of God’s favour. Today is the day of salvation.

Jesus didn’t say Go into all the world and fix it. He said, “Go into all the world and make disciples of people in all the nations.” That is not ignoring the plight of our civilization. If any improvements are to be made, they will be made as improvements are made to the souls of mankind.

The Lord is patient, slow to anger and abounding in grace. As Peter said a little earlier, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

This is what God is like. He is patient with His enemies so that every last person who can, will be brought into heaven before the deadline.

No one is going to be left who did not want to be left.

You know, i bitterly, bitterly wish there was some way that i could laugh in your face when we are both dead.

Not going to happen, cause no such thing exists, and i know you think you'll be laughing in mine.

But oh how sweet it would be to piss all over your belief and laugh at the years of your life you wasted on earth worshiping something that doesn't even exist.

I understand the hypocrisy that kind of taints my wish, because that would result in the reality of an afterlife i don't believe in.

But it would still be absolutely hilarious.

Mmm, by hypocrisy I thought you were going to refer to your desires for vengence and humiliation of another person coming from someone who doesn't need God in order to be a nice person.

That's ok. I didn't recognise that stuff in myself either, untill God showed it to me.

Heh, I have a recording of a group called the Potter's House. Their street-witness team saying they can't wait untill I die so they can watch me burning in hell while they are in heaven. I guess they didn't notice the micro-recorder in my pocket!

What does an idiot Christian have to do with Jesus Gospel of salvation?

I know it's an old analogy but your story (if true) is like you listening to me playing something by Mozart and then judging his skills as a composer by what you hear as I play.

The only kind of person who would do that is someone with an irrational vendentta against Mozart.

It's true. It's didn't just happen. I have a recording.

I was just relaying an interesting story. There were more than ten of them.

Be careful of the potters house.

They like to harass their critics.

Be careful.

Mak, i can be just as good a man as you without turning to god.

Rabhimself said...

Oh, and lets be honest, if we were to rack up the amount of unpleasantries exchanged between us since my first post, you'd be putting me to shame.

On several occassions i have had a go at you for your attempts to belittle/ridicule me etc.

I believe Mak even took a shot at me early on but he's a theist and it's impossible to be insulted by someone like that.

Thesauros said...

No doubt. It wouldn't take much to be better than me. Too bad you can't be the most important thing without God and that's freed from real guilt.

>without God and that's freed from real guilt.

So that's why you're a theist, to be guilt-free?

Sad and demented, social but sad and demented.

Thesauros said...

Interesting that you see love and forgiveness as sad and demented.

I find them to be the best parts of my life. They bring to me and my family a peace and contentment and a joy that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I wonder if your delusions induce a form of dyslexia?

As I clearly said the fact that you need the love and forgiveness of a god is sad and demented.

>They bring to me and my family a peace and contentment and a joy that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

Spoken like a true junkie. This is of course the "opiate" that Marx wrote of.

Forgiveness for what Makarios?

You tell me.

Tell me, what you have done in your life, that it is so bad that if it weren't for god, you would be going straight to hell.

That is, to be in agony for all eternity.

What have you personally done?

Do you know why people use flashlights?

Do you know that Jesus is called the light of the world?

Do you know that C.S. Lewis, I think, said, “I believe in Jesus for the same reason that I believe in the sun. Not because I can see it, but because of it I can see everything else more clearly.

And then he went on to explain, “No one knows how bad he is until he tries very hard to be good. A good man knows of the evil still in him, while a thoroughly bad man thinks that he is good.”

Paul, one of the most powerful yet humble men the Christian Church has ever seen called himself “the chief of sinners,” and “the worst of sinners.”

The closer we come to God, the brighter the light that shines into our heart / soul. The brighter the light the more clearly we can see how unfit we are to be in the presence of our Creator.

How close are atheists? How clearly do atheists see their true selves? They create T shirts that proclaim, "I was born OK the first time."

Jesus is a light to the world, a light that shows the sin and corruption that resides in us, but like cockroaches atheists scurry away from the light. This allows them to say, "I don't need God in order to be a good person."

Jerimiah said, "The heart is desperately wicked. Who can understand it." See Matthew 12:34-48

My sin? The same as yours. On my own I reject my Creator and I do not love my neighbour as myself. That makes us unfit for heaven and the only alternative to heaven is hell.

I think you make a mistake when you see hell as a punishment for this or that sin. Hell is simply the end of the road that you’ve been travelling on for your whole life.

By choice, we travel toward one of two destinations, heaven or hell.

By choice we either accept or reject the entrance requirements to heaven.

And that’s all there is to it. It’s not rocket science. You either do what’s required for entrance to heaven or you don’t.

End of story.

Rabhimself said...

End of story my arse you jackass.

I have zero choice in the matter.

Remember, Mak, this is the way your god made me. I'm hardwired not to accept things without evidence. I can't help it.

I challenge you again to genuinely believe in the Loch Ness Monster.

Can you?

Make your fucking mind up, he can't make me the way he has and expect me by free will to defy my own mind (that he made).

Do i know why people use flashlights? Come on man, you can come up with better than that.

Atheists are atheists because as far as we can see, with respect to god, the lights are out.

Not by choice, he hasn't shone any light on anything for us to believe in him. Likewise, despite mankinds best efforts, we can't shine any light on him to see if he's there.

You saying i have choice is no better than me saying that you have the choice to believe in the Loch Ness Monster.

Of course, no matter how hard you try to believe this, you cannot.

Thesauros said...

So tell me what you've tried. You say that you've sincerely challenged your Creator to prove Himself to you. Help me understand what you've done.

Rabhimself said...

I prayed.

According to your bible that is enough, provided that i am sincere, and believe me, i was.

I fully believed it all.

But i got nothing.

I wonder why.

Thesauros said...

I fully believed it all.

What does that mean? Believed what?

That you're a sinner?
That you require forgiveness?
That Jesus is the Son of God?
The Jesus was crucified, died and was buried and that He rose again on the third day?

You believed that?
