Dawkins and Faith

Atheist High Priest Richard Dawkins says that faith, Christian faith, is “blind trust in the absence of evidence, even in the teeth of evidence.” The Selfish Gene, 198.

Yet Dawkins’ definition of faith is itself a perfect example of a belief that is tenaciously and relentlessly held in the absence of evidence, even in the teeth of evidence to the contrary. Atheist sheeple read Dawkins and bow in agreement.

I would not read The Selfish Gene to learn about religion...

Out of curiosity, I tested something: I went on the wikipedia page for the book, and search for "religion", "faith" and "god".

"faith" and "god" are simply not there and religion comes in the text presenting critics of the book... I think it says a lot...

"Atheist sheeple read Dawkins and bow in agreement"
Concerning what?

What is that Bible quote supposed to be useful for? are you only trying to show that Dawkins' definition of faith is wrong?
But you mentionned that his definition is an example of a belief held without evidence. What belief are you talking about?

This is why Newton made sure the Church was on his side before he published his theories...

You consider that to be a belief? What the fuck?
It's just a random comment...

It's a statement of what he believes about the Christian's relationship with faith.

"It's a statement of what he believes about the Christian's relationship with faith."

So an opinion is something that you don't believe?

Makarios: "So an opinion is something that you don't believe?"

So you don't see a difference between opinions, beliefs and knowledge?

I consider your Christian worldview to be irrational
I believe you are a good person
