Atheists See Death

That’s what I get time after time as atheists attempt to describe to me the “freak accident” of a planet with life on it. Atheists talk about how hostile and huge our universe is. And they’re correct. What they fail the recognise is that our universe, billions of light years across and billions of years old, needs to be exactly this large, this old and controlled by exactly these constants and qualitites for life on THIS planet to exist. This is not freak accident.

As physicist Paul Davies says,
“We have been written into the laws of nature in a deep and, I believe, meaningful way.”
Paul Davies, “The Mind of God: The Scientific Basis for a Rational World, (New York: Touchstone Books, 1993), 21

Well Mak unless you feel totally happy with suggesting that its just always a nasty thoughtless god that must decide who to exlectricute with fork lightning for instance,or how many innocent to drown in tsunamis or crush them earthquakes. And many more rather "random" things we often SEE and EXPERIENCE in life on this earth.

Then you can best try to see how much of it is actually often very much just like a random freak accident. And when you do come to understand it this way,it becomes easier to understand. And even easier to accept.

There is no more god that must surely be very uncaring and mean sometimes.Who picks folks to hurt maime and even kill many who are innocent.

It becomes more about the simple facts of life.

Paul Davies is correct, and the Drake Equation suggests it was not a "freak accident" as you seem to presume.

It was a series of "freak accidents" so vast and multiply that it formed probabilities. Just as easily, we can be about 99% sure that there is probably complex life beyond this planet. Odds are in our favor after all.

I wouldn't call that a "miracle" as you seem to suggest. I would call it, good luck. I also can be thankful for the life I can enjoy without ever having to look the gift horse in the mouth by taking it for granted as so many religious believers do when they long for an afterlife, or an eternal happily ever after. True or not, I find it more fulfilling to, as the adage Carpe diem suggests, seize the day--and make my own destiny. And as always, live to do good perchance to see the world full of goodness.

That's my sort of Atheism--no puppet masters attached.

Ah the anthropic principle... you really love it Rod don't you?

What you fail to recognize is that life evolve to suit the environment we are in, not the other way around...

Our planet is very special, but so are ALL the planets. They ALL have different characteristics. Because of that, life will be absent on most planet because the life we know is fit for our environment. But who are you to claim that all the universe is made for us?

Ahh, Hugo, that is so sweet. All the planets are special.

Have a fun vacation.

A series of freak accidents, oh, well I guess we are lucky? Tristan, I believe you are a good person, but why can't you seize the day and all that stuff and still be a Christian. I'm to lazy to seize the day, I'd rather lay on the couch and watch TV. But I still could seize the day if I felt like it. Christianity wouldn't stop me from that. The cool thing about God is that he isn't a puppet master, he respects us and lets us choose, love demands a choice.

Are you saying you don't believe in God because of the bad shit that nature does? Or are you saying if theres a God you don't like him because he allows that shit to happen?

Dueces you Mooses, feeno

Hi Feeno ... What im saying is if you look at how "random" many things actually are in our life on earth around us...Like innocent folks getting killed in tsunamis, earthquakes, electrocuted by lightning, drowned in floods etc.

Well its easy to see how much of life and what happens around us is very very much like some "freak accident"."Random" things often happen on this planet, which is why we even have such a tough job to try to learn how to be prepared for them.

You lot (try) and tell us there is some omnipotent being...But we know if there is, then he simply "lets" a lot of freak accidents just simply happen. And kill folks. If he exists it mean he dont care about it.

But its far far more likely to be much more common sense and logic.

That no omnipotent being exists !, thats all.Its more logical. It fits.

I have said nothing about not liking any god feeno. Why would i even bother to not like a god, i dont see any DECENT GOOD REASON to even believe actually even exists??

That would be stupid.Do i really seem so utterly stupid?.

Maybe you just prefer to believe i just hate god thats all. That maybe suits your religious belief indoctrination and propaganda you have been taught.

This is something i personally find a little disturbing about folks of faith at times.Folks who also like to suggest they are friends of ours, and say shit like "oh we still love you though".

Why should i believe them??..They obviously think im simply a liar and just hate their god.

Seems they are quite willing to "judge" us of simply hating some god,if it suits their thinking. They rather think we tell lies all the time.

Whats factual and honest often seems to matter little.Who gives a tit who get classed as a liar etc, as long as their god belief gets looked after.

Seems we non believers are to be judged as guilty lieing scum, until actually proven innocent.

Wonder why do i have trouble sometimes, feeling christians actually "honestly" are the loving type people they often try and tell me they are.

Who gets to decide what "logical is"?

Also I don't believe you are a liar or stupid. But my question is still valid. Are you the only one who get's to "read between the lines" of what someone writes? Have you honestly not heard the things that many Atheists claim about the Christian God. They don't believe in him, but even if they did they wouldn't want any part of him because he's maniacal, petty, egotistical, racist, sexist, that he's pro slavery, he doesn't answers prayers or he "allows innocent people" to be killed in natural disasters, His plans are stupid etc...

Check out Mr. Loftus' blog, he is looking for names we can give God for a new book. Just read what Atheists had to say and tell me that they don't hate that God.

Have you ever heard of "A dutch uncle"? You may not feel Christians really love others, some do. some don't, but you shouldn't mistake concern for a lack of love.

================================

What I mean about you reading in between the lines is this. I agree with you about those who give money for charities. I didn't say we were better, I was simply letting people know what good goes on around the globe because what Christians are doing. They are doing more than just praying for some one who's hungry etc. I'm not in competition with the "lost" to see who can feed more people. I'm thankful that there are secular groups helping out in worthwhile causes. I would assume you are grateful for all the great things that are being done around the world by Christian groups, even if you don't believe their message.
I can tell you that the hungry don't care where the food is coming from. We'll leave it up to them who they want to give the thanks to.

Do you think those religious folks in johnstown for instance, used much reason and logic?.

Would you say Benny Hinn followers use much reason and logic etc, when they believe all Benny tells them and give him their money ?.

Should we still believe in zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, Poseidon..What about Odin, Frigg, Borghild,Hel,Holler ? should we maybe just offer offerings to Holler!! instead of teaching surgeons and doctors?.

What about the religious polygamous?,should we just make polygamy lawfully ok for everyone?.

What about the relgious whos belief means they dont allow their children bloodtransfusions or cancer treatment etc?,or should it just become free and easy like and just legal for everyone to refuse transfusions and not bother taking their kids in for cancer treatment etc if they just dont feel like?.Or what??.What the rub???..What we do??..Where we draw the line??.Where is line where religion become, stuff!!your religion mate,we going to use some freaking logic! and reason!here thank you very much?.

Who you think gets to decide feeno?.

Do you ever?? think that much about whos logic? is getting used??. when some poor kid dies because their familys religion dont do blood transfusions.Or prays instead of cancer treatment?.

It happens!.Kids die that dont need to die!..Whos logic?...Whos reasoning? ..being used feeno.

You know i really hope you really do think about these things feeno.I hope you care about some kid who die REAL YOUNG because of religion.I hope you think about some young girl getting married off to some old man who already got two or three other wives too.

Because here you are asking me, .."Who gets to decide what "logical is"?"

What do you think....Who gets to decide feeno..Good question hmmm?

Hey my homie come on now, you tell me who YOU think should "decide" what "logic" is "logic",but if we friends and your "we just love you though" bit, got any real honesty to it...Then make sure you remember "RELIGIOUS LOGIC" really messed my own (families life around)...There was even (suicide) amongst of many of our friends!!..There was mega "depression" .."heartbreak" and much much more.

Do you care?..Does it worry you at all what logic is used?..Its ok when religious logic in johnstown leads folks to death?

Or everything just fine by you.So yeah..Sweet as

Hmmm??

Feeno.."Check out Mr. Loftus' blog, he is looking for names we can give God for a new book. Just read what Atheists had to say and tell me that they don't hate that God."

Yeah well i repent, i could sure damn think of a few names sometimes too!.

Where you thinking im Jesus?.Is there some "reason: and "logic" (you think) somehow (everyone) should REALLY be thinking god (honestly) just the bees knees! and the very very best most beautiful wonderful thing that ever happen for everyone ever born?.

It not just some folk being simply honest and think god sucks?.They got no reason?...No logic?

Religious charity.. Well ive already said what i think..Its a poor argument..Its a lame argument.

And your argument about hoping im happy about religious charity and all they do etc,is just a argument from the "emotional" angle. Its sad

What you really saying is you think religious folk aint likely going to still care so much anymore if you lose your religious cuddly rug.

Your remark imply and "assume" that great things MUST have to stop still happening around the world,if we become without some book?.

Is that really logic?.Good reason?.Honest?

It very sad if it is.Sad that it takes a book for folks to care.

But you know what feeno like i already said,i do find it very hard to even believe faithful folks actually really so honest when they "say" they care and just love us etc, sometimes. It sometime seem like it just another "meme" of religion. There is a big difference between someone just saying they care, and actually honestly meaning what they say.

When they say what they mean!,seems the action matches the logic and reasoning too.

Its really not so hard Hugo, nothing much to it really.Just think simple and try to be honest.Nothing fancy.

Its when you dont keep it simple and so honest, that it sometimes does become a little harder.
