Rather odd that you can condense a big honking book into a pithy little pennywise and I can't help but wonder about the 10 Commandments, Golden Rule (that most certainly contradicts "do what you want") but okay, I'll play.”

Sal, Sal, Sal. You make me sigh - with sadness. Love as the Bible speaks of it, is a willed, volitional, desired action. A feeling may be involved but it certainly isn’t driven by feeling. When I love my wife, I do what pleases her because I want to please her. In that sense, I love my wife and do what I want. Love God and do what you want will entail fulfilling not just the letter of the law but the spirit of the law as is found in Jesus who put it into words, Matthew chapters 5 - 7. As a Christian matures in h/her relationship with Jesus, God’s will becomes my will and my will matches up with God’s will so doing what I want will fulfill the Golden Rule.

Why does God ask us to enter into a healed relationship with Him? Because humankind is fully alive only when we're in a healed and forgiven relationship with our Creator. I'm not saying that you can't have a decent life on your own. I did. You can. It's just that life is so much better on this side of the fence.Thesauroshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13305052511095551483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764946987133813099.post-6891363947426154982009-09-14T15:29:40.779-07:002009-09-14T15:29:40.779-07:00Uh huh. Why does your god prevent the billions of people who don't know about him knowing about him? If Jesus had say simultaneously sacrificed himself to himself in every culture in the world from the Aztec (heart torn out thrown into pit) to the Zulu (staked out in the Veld slathering in donkey guts near a pack of hyenas) wouldn't then the world be united in their love of your god due to the inarguable and universally observed miracle?

But no, instead of something completely convincing your god only tells a select few who then write it down and have to spend thousands of years trying to convince the rest of the world.

Something your god could do in a second.

If he existed.

And since he doesn't he ether doesn't exist or is incapable of making himself clear.

In either case, it'd be silly to worship.salvagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01101734006944992476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4764946987133813099.post-25827532848374625032009-09-14T14:02:42.944-07:002009-09-14T14:02:42.944-07:00It tells you what to think, what to know, what to ...It tells you what to think, what to know, what to eat, when to do things, when not to, the list is endless."

Some religions do.
